Why Work at Berner
Most pest control jobs hand you a route sheet and wish you luck. We do it differently. Our owner, Trent Mobley, started this company after years inside a corporate operation, and he built it around doing right by customers and by the people who do the work. He is out in the field alongside the team, and the training here is the kind you keep for a career.
We are honest with customers about pricing and honest with applicants about the job. Here is what we can offer, stated plainly:
Locally owned, family run
Berner is a family business in Lexington, not a franchise. The owner is an Associate Certified Entomologist who works in the field alongside the team, so the person setting the standard is out there meeting it.
Learn a real trade
Paid, hands-on training from day one, and we cover the cost of your Kentucky pesticide licensing. You learn how to solve pest problems for good, not just where to spray.
Competitive pay plus commission
We pay competitively for the Lexington market, and there is commission opportunity on sales for people who bring in or upgrade business.
Health insurance and paid time off
Full-time employees are offered health insurance and paid time off. We walk through the specifics with you in the interview, plainly and in writing.
A weekday schedule
Our service hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and routes are local to Lexington and the surrounding communities.
Room to grow
We are a small team, which means an early hire gets broad experience fast. The path runs from trainee to licensed technician with Kentucky category certification, then into senior roles as the company grows.
Who We Want to Meet
These are the roles we expect to hire for as we grow. If you fit one, or think you should be a category of your own, tell us.
Service Technicians
Licensed or willing to learn: we hire good people and teach them the trade. The day to day is real work. You run residential routes, inspect homes, apply targeted treatments, and have honest conversations with homeowners. Crawlspaces and attics are part of the job, the work is physical, and your driving record matters because you are in a company vehicle between every stop.
Sales Representatives
People who can explain a service honestly and let the work close the deal. Our sales approach matches our service approach: no scare tactics, no pressure, published pricing. Pest control knowledge helps, but we can teach that. We cannot teach honesty.
Great people we should know
Office and admin help, or a role we have not thought of yet. If you think you would make Berner better, we want to hear the pitch. Small companies are built one good hire at a time.

Berner Pest Solutions is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. Employment offers are contingent on a driving record review and background check as required for the role, which is standard practice in the pest control industry.
Careers FAQ
Are you hiring right now?
Not at the moment. We are a small team and we hire deliberately. When a position opens, we contact the people on our interest list first, before the job goes on any job board. Fill out the form on this page and you are on that list.
Do I need a Kentucky pesticide license to apply?
No. We hire good people and teach them the trade. New technicians get paid, hands-on training, and we cover the cost of your Kentucky licensing. If you already hold a license, that experience counts too.
What does a pest control technician actually do day to day?
Most days you run a residential route: inspecting homes, treating for insects and rodents, sealing entry points, and explaining what you found to the homeowner. It is physical, hands-on work. Crawlspaces and attics are part of the job, you drive between stops all day, and a clean driving record matters. In return, no two days look the same and you spend more time outside than behind a desk.
Do you hire part-time?
Most of our roles are full-time. That said, tell us what you are looking for in the form. If the right person needs a different arrangement, we would rather know about you than not.
