Including Brown Recluse Identification & Treatment
Spider Control Services in Lexington, KY
Spiders are one of the most common pest complaints in Central Kentucky homes, and for good reason. While most species are harmless, their webs, egg sacs, and sheer numbers make them unwelcome guests. A small number of spiders found locally, including the brown recluse, are medically significant and warrant professional attention.

Our Spider Control Treatment Approach
Our spider control program is built around Integrated Pest Management (IPM), treating the source rather than just the symptoms. A professional spider treatment typically includes:
- ✓ Interior & exterior inspection: identifying active spider species, nesting sites, egg sacs, and entry points
- ✓ Web removal: eliminating existing webs and egg sacs to reduce current populations
- ✓ Targeted perimeter treatment: applying product to eaves, entry points, window frames, and foundation cracks where spiders enter and nest
- ✓ Crawl space & basement treatment: addressing the dark, undisturbed areas where brown recluse and cellar spiders thrive
- ✓ Glue board placement: for ongoing monitoring and population reduction in key indoor locations
- ✓ Entry point sealing recommendations: practical advice on gaps and cracks that allow spiders inside
For severe infestations or confirmed brown recluse activity, we recommend a treatment program with follow-up visits to achieve lasting control. Spiders can be persistent: a single treatment is often not sufficient for heavy infestations.

Frequently Asked Questions: Spider Control
How do I know if I have brown recluse spiders?
Brown recluse spiders are tan to brown with a darker violin-shaped marking on their back. They are typically 6-11mm in body length. They prefer undisturbed areas: inside cardboard boxes, in stored clothing, beneath furniture, in closets, and in crawl spaces. If you’re finding spiders in these locations and are concerned about brown recluse, contact us for a professional inspection. Accurate identification is critical.
Are spider treatments safe for my pets and children?
Yes. We use products labeled for indoor and outdoor use that are applied in targeted areas, not as blanket sprays. We’re careful to treat in areas out of reach of children and pets, and we’ll advise you on any brief ventilation or re-entry precautions specific to your treatment.
Can I treat spiders myself?
Over-the-counter sprays can reduce spiders temporarily, but they rarely address the root cause: an abundant insect food source, entry points, or harborage areas. Professional treatment eliminates egg sacs and targets the harborage areas that make populations rebound. For brown recluse, DIY treatment is especially difficult due to their reclusive behavior and the need for comprehensive de-webbing and monitoring.
Do you treat spider problems on a one-time basis or do I need a contract?
We offer both options. A one-time spider treatment can provide significant relief, especially for moderate infestations. For ongoing prevention, and for properties with persistent spider activity, we recommend incorporating spider treatment into a quarterly general pest control plan. There are no contracts, cancellation fees, or long-term commitments required.
How long does spider control treatment take to work?
Most clients see significant reduction in spider activity within 1-2 weeks of treatment as existing spiders contact treated surfaces and die. Web removal and glue boards show activity immediately. For brown recluse infestations, plan for a 2-3 month timeline with multiple visits to achieve comprehensive control.
